There are 4 different options families can choose from to do together this month. These activities are in addition to the monthly at-home work in the workbooks. Scroll down to find additional activities for students in Grades 1 - 6 and for students in 7th & 8th grade and High School. Please note! Option 1
Watch on FORMED
Brother Francis: The Saints, Our Friends OR Mother Teresa: Seeing the Face of Jesus OR St. Giuseppe Moscati: Doctor to the Poor
Families can choose a video to watch for an activity this month, depending on the age of their children. The popular animated Brother Francis is back this month to teach children in PreK to 4th grade about "The Saints, Our Friends" in a 30 minute animated video. It is appropriate for PreK to 4th grade. The second video is a short history of the life of St. Teresa of Calcutta, and is age-appropriate for 5th graders through 7th graders. The third video, "St. Giuseppe Moscati" tells the story of an Italian doctor who was canonized in 1987 and is appropriate for 8th graders and up. We celebrate his feast day on November 16. (Note: This is a longer movie of 3 hours, and was filmed in Italian with English subtitles. However, it is very well done and worth the time to watch it.) You will need to log into your account on FORMED in order to watch any of the videos.
Homework: To submit watching one video as one of your family activities for November, fill out the form below.

Option 2:
Faith, Family and Food: Cooking with the Liturgical Calendar
The November liturgical meal celebrates the life of St. Martin of Tours by creating a traditional Hungarian meal. This meal of Hungarian goulash, noodles and cabbage is the perfect meal for the cold weather - filling, satisfying and delicious! We celebrate the feast of St. Martin of November 11.
Homework: To submit making this meal as one of your monthly activities, take a photo of your family gathered around the table and send it to: stcatherinehomework@gmail.com

Option 3
Make a Joy Jar
A joyful heart is a thankful heart. If you want to be happy, cultivate gratitude. If you want to help your family be happy, help them form the habit of giving thanks. Since November is the month when we traditionally focus on giving thanks, it's the perfect time as a family to try to form the habit of recognizing the good things in our lives and being thankful.
To make a Joy Jar, or two or three, just choose any container you think will work, decorate it, designate it as a special "Joy Jar" and make a commitment to write down at least one thing you are grateful for each day. Then, once a month, read all your "joys" out loud. You'll be surprised by just how many gifts you will have received.
The two Joy Jars pictured above were sent in by a St. Catherine's parishioner and grandmother. This grandmother wanted to help her grandchild stay focused on the good things in her life, so they each made their own Joy Jars. They don't live in the same house, so they made a commitment to meet on Zoom once a month and share their joys with each other.
Homework: To submit this craft as one of your Family Options, please take a photo of your Joy Jar and send it to stcatherinehomework@gmail.com.

Option 4
Remember your loved ones and pray "A Litany of the Saints" together at your Family Prayer Space
Remember your loved ones and pray "A Litany of the Saints" together at your Family Prayer Space
If you've been to St. Catherine's lately, you may have noticed that our annual Altar of the Dead is up in the church narthex. In November, the worldwide Catholic Church remembers and prays for those who have passed on before us. On November 1, all consecrated persons who do not have a celebration of their own in the liturgical calendar are venerated, or honored. This celebration is called All Saints Day and is a Holy Day of Obligation. On the next day, November 2, the Church remembers the faithful departed by praying for the souls of those friends and relatives who have gone before us to the Father’s House. During the cultural celebration of the Day of the Dead, or el Día de los Muertos, it is customary to visit cemeteries. All Souls’ Day can be a good opportunity to pray for our deceased loved ones and to affirm our faith in the Resurrection. The Diocese of Austin has produced a short explanation of Dia de los Muertos. You can download it, in English or Spanish, below to learn more.
Homework: Add some photos of saints and loved ones who you want to remember in prayer to your Family Prayer Space. During November, pray the "Litany of the Saints" and the "Prayer for the Deceased" together, and name all those you wish to pray for. Send a photo of your home Altar for the Dead to stcatherinehomework@gmail.com. Remember to thank God for the saints and to pray for your loved ones all month.

STUDENTS IN GRADES 1 - 6
(NOT IN FIRST RECONCILIATION/FIRST COMMUNION)
Complete an additional workbook activity. DO NOT USE THE FLOURISH WEBSITE TO TURN IN END-OF-CHAPTER REVIEWS.
Students in grades 1-6 have additional activities available to them that coordinate with each workbook chapter. To find them, log onto www.flourishkh.com, and go to your account. Students can complete one of these activities (usually a one page worksheet) and turn it in as one of their monthly activities. Instructions for finding the activities are on the September page. Please remember, these worksheets are an optional activity. They do not replace the Chapter Reviews in the workbooks.
Homework: To submit these extra activities as one of the monthly projects, you'll need to download, print out and complete the worksheet. When finished, you may scan it or take a picture of it and send it to stcatherinehomework.com, or place it in the RE Homework drop box outside of the Parish Center.

STUDENTS IN FIRST RECONCILIATION/FIRST COMMUNION
This month, children in grades 2- 6 who are preparing to make their First Reconciliation will need to pick up a Take Home Kit from the RE office. This Take Home Kit replaces the First Reconciliation workshop that is normally held at church. The kit contains the same center activities as the workshop and will count for both Family Projects for the month of November. More detailed instructions for completing the centers are inside the kit. Note: This kit will count as both of the Family Projects for the month of November.

We are moving along to Chapter Two for November. In this chapter, we move from the "what" to the "why". Chapter One told us WHAT the Liturgy of the Hours is, and Chapter Two teaches us WHY to pray it.
Homework: Read Chapter Two of the book, then submit the questions below.
