Suggestions for Families:

Families in Family Faith and GenFaith are already familiar with the work of Illustrated Ministry. This company produces original artwork with meditations, enabling family members of all ages to sit around the table, color, pray and chat. As a response to COVID 19, they are sending out FREE weekly resources of faith and inspiration. To receive these resources each week, sign up through this link: https://www.illustratedministry.com/flattenthecurve
One of our favorite Catholic websites is www.looktohimandberadiant.com. It is written and managed by a young Catholic school teacher in the Midwest. She posted the rosary below recently, and as we know, the rosary is one of the best ways to deal with heightened stress and fear. Its repetitive chanting has a soothing and calming effect, and lifting our hearts and minds to God can only bring good graces. This particular rosary includes special petitions to pray during this pandemic.

Another very popular and much-used Catholic blog is www.catholicicing.com This site has many easy ideas, most of which can be printed at home. If you print out the Stations of the Cross activity (to the right) you can reuse them each year - quarantined or not.
CatholicIcing.com is also the home of one of the most used Lenten resources each year at St. Catherine's, a downloadable Lenten calendar. You can download a copy here: https://www.catholicicing.com/printable-lenten-calendar-for-kids/ and track each of the remaining days of Lent. (Note: the calendar is free if you sign up to receive notifications, etc. Otherwise, it costs $1.)
And to help us keep our perspective, just a bit, be sure to check out the Catholic Relief Services website for the Rice Bowl. It contains a video for each week of Lent, introducing a child from a different part of the world who will benefit from the Rice Bowl. The videos are hopeful and uplifting, and remind us that we really are all in this together. There are also reflection questions you can discuss together, for each video. https://www.crsricebowl.org/stories-of-hope/intro |
