Our Mission
The mission of our RE department can be summed up in 3 words: Evangelize. Educate. Empower. We challenge ourselves to promote these 3 actions through 2 specific charisms, that of the Dominicans and the Vincentians.
We are DominicanBecause the patron saint of our parish was part of the Dominican order, we have chosen to explore and uphold the Dominican charism as well. St. Catherine was a Third Order Dominican. As a true Dominican, she spent her life preaching the Word of God and exhorting, teaching, even imploring people to change their lives and grow closer to God. We, too, seek to grow in the Dominican charism of revealing Holy Truth - the Dominican motto - through Praising, Blessing and Preaching. We are proud of our commitment to ongoing adult education, especially in our monthly classes. We believe ongoing formation for parents is vital in forming families of faith. we are vincentianIn addition to learning and living the Dominican charism, we also seek to learn more about St. Vincent de Paul and the order he founded, the Vincentians. Our parish has historically had a very strong and active Vincentian outreach, and we also intentionally promote Vincentian values in all our RE classes and models. In fact, we are the only parish in Texas to have a Young Vincentian Youth group. The worldwide Society of St. Vincent de Paul also follows in his footsteps, in finding Christ through serving the poor. We have ongoing service projects throughout the year.
