september family options

Welcome back!   Every month, we will ask ourselves "How do we receive our faith?"  and "How can we share it?" Below are 3 important ways through which we receive our faith.

Families in the At-Home program are asked to complete AND submit TWO projects every month.

Families in Session A or B encouraged to do a family and parent project and are required to submit a project for Advent and another project for Lent.

Option 1: Reading the Bible
We receive our faith through reading and meditating on the words of Scripture.  This activity gives an overview of the entire Bible - in 50 words!  To do it, print out the file "Bible in 50 words - mixed up" and see if you can put all 50 words into the correct order. Then check your work against the Answer Key. If you can memorize these 50 words in order, you'll always know the basic layout of the Old and New Testaments.

To submit this as one of your Family Projects, take a photo of the completed words and send it to [email protected].

Option 2: Prayer
We know that another primary way of bringing God into our hearts and homes is through consistent prayer. To begin the new school year, set up a Prayer Space in your home. To get started, choose an appropriate place in your home and use a green cloth, napkin or even a piece of paper to represent Ordinary Time. Place a Bible, a candle, a rosary and a crucifix in the space. Then, customize it according to your own family. For example, the Prayer Space pictured also has a large angel holding a wreath for each season.

Once you have your Prayer Space set up, gather around it and use the "Blessing for the New School Year" file below to pray for guidance and wisdom through the year.

Next, pray for help in teaching and learning about our faith this year by making "The Catechetical Prayer Card" craft.  You can find the Catechetical Prayer Card and pin in your family bag. Read the file below to make a craft that keeps your card and pin in a safe spot, ready to be used all year.

Homework: To submit creating a Family Prayer Space and the "Catechist Prayer Card" craft as one of your monthly activities, take a photo of both projects and send them to:  [email protected]
